  • One home, one TV please:

You must understand that you cannot have a television set in every part of the house. Gone are the days where there were sets in the living rooms, in the individual bedrooms, dining place, and even the bathrooms!

  • You’d only on it if there was something to watch:

It is like you like the Game of Thrones, you check the time and you on the set around fifteen minutes earlier. Do not just aimlessly surf channels in order to find out what is happening across them. You will end up watching way too many hours and not having the complete satisfaction of watching enough of anything either.

  • Set an alarm:

Setting time for television is a good idea. There is no big need to follow a correct routine. You can work a schedule according to the sitcoms that you follow or the time you have for your recreation. You must set an alarm where at the expiration of the time you call it quits and go do some productive work.

  • Throw the remote out:

This may sound a bit absurd but it works like magic. You will only surf the television channels as long as you have the remote control handy. Put it away from you and try to get up each time you want to change the channel or work the volume. You will realize that it is better that you switch off the set than get up each time!

  • No food-no books rule:

This will sound tyrannical in the beginning but soon you will start seeing great results. There will be improved grades, lesser anger and no more accidentally choking on the food.

  • Read with discipline:

How about giving reading a chance? Ever since you have started television, reading has been getting a hit. How about reading at least 30 pages in a day?

  • Make a plan:

You will realize soon that when you are starting your TV time, you only want to watch a while to relax. Soon the minutes turn to hours and then you end up watching the remaining part of the day. Needless to say, you also feel sorry for wasting so much time watching it when you had so much more to do!Why not create a checklist of things to be completed before night fall and keep it close by where you are watching the shows. Constantly looking at the list will make you realize that time is ticking by and that you need to buck up or else you may not be able to finish.

  • Go back to games:

When was the last time you played or went for a walk or even tended the overgrown bushes? Playing board games and outdoor games can do you a world of good and rejuvenate you more than even the briefest stint in from of the idiot box!
